
Cherokee Nation will be here to administer flu vaccines for the community, staff, and students on October 21, 2019 from 11:15 AM to 3:00 PM they with a break for lunch from 12:30 to 1:30 PM. Every student was given a consent form for the flu vaccine. Fill out the entire consent form ONLY IF you want your child to receive the vaccine. Please return the form by October 16th.

The bus will leave at 3:40pm today for the 3/4 5/6 grade basketball game at Braggs and will return around 8:00pm

Attention Parents: Jostens will be here tomorrow, October 8th, to take Senior graduation orders @ 1:15 and Sophomore class ring orders @ 1:45.

The 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th Basketball games scheduled for Thursday, October 10th have been cancelled.

This evening at the Home football game against SASAKWA some of the teachers will be there with tickets for the Tools for school fundraiser. For a $10 donation you will receive a ticket for the drawing for one of 13 prizes to be drawn on December 14, 2019. The teachers will have more information about the prizes at the game. Please stop by and help support our local school through this great fundraiser.


Preston James of McAlester Public Schools delivered a trailer load of reading intervention curriculum today. Several WFS students helped him unload. The donation was sent by the principal and teachers at Will Rogers Elementary. Thank you!

Don & Shelly Sabrowski delivered a load of library books all the way from Gunnison, Colorado, today. Two of their area libraries (Gunnison County Public Library & Salida Regional Library) collected the books for our school. Thank you, Coloradans, for your thoughtful and generous donation! WFS students Hailey Hammons & Alaina Back as well as former graduate Haley Cato helped receive the donation. Several other WFS students helped unload the 31 boxes of books.

3rd and 4th Grade (Girls and Boys) basketball game today at Braggs. Girls will play at 6:00pm and boys at 6:45pm. The bus will be leaving at 4:30pm and will return around 8:00pm.

For our flood recovery this summer, Lowe's Hero Project donated $2,500 in store credit, which was used to help refurbish our field house. They also brought a lift and painted the goal post. Due to a conflict with softball regionals, football homecoming is being postponed until Friday, October 25th.

Soft Seven will be starting Wednesday, October 2, 2019, for the older kids. I have changed the day to Thursday for the younger kids because of ball games. So Younger kids will start on Thursday, October 3, 2019. Hope to see all my kids after school from 3:30 to 4:30. Thanks for everyone's support!

The NHS induction ceremony scheduled for Monday evening is being postponed. It will be rescheduled in the near future.

Mrs. Johnson, Mr. Hicks, and our Algebra II students are showing off their new set of graphing calculators courtesy of The Nix Foundation. Their $3,500 donation purchased 27 TI-84+CE calculators and two charging ports. Thank you, Nix Foundation, for supporting our school with this generous gift!


Our first 4-H meeting will be tomorrow September 24 from 3:30 to 4:30. This will be an enrollment meeting so parents if you can attend that would be helpful.

Kick For A Cause held a kickball tournament yesterday in Sallisaw to help Webbers Falls Schools. They raised over $800 to go toward the expenses of rebuilding our facilities. They also collected school supplies for our students. A special thank you to one of Dr. Swearingen's students and her husband, Micalla and Jamison Schrader, and the rest of the Kick For A Cause team, for the hard work and long hours that went into the preparation of this event. Thank you to the donors for helping to offset the expenses. Finally, thank you to the players who had a blast playing kickball for our school. May you be blessed as you have blessed our school.
