My day started with a very generous donation to my elementary principal account. The Nix Foundation donated $5,000 to be used for the needs of Webbers Falls students and teachers in the upcoming school year. We will certainly put it to good use. Thank you so much! Correction: Our special delivery this morning from Dallas was from “Junior DECATS Dallas” which is a summer camp for 3rd-5th grade. They worked extremely hard getting us some amazing donations. I want to make sure that I give credit where credit is due. Some of the students are from St. Rita, but there are also students from 20 other schools in the diocese. You kids rock! Thank you again.

Just a reminder that all incoming 7th grade students will be required to have a Tetanus booster before returning to school on September 3. This is a state requirement.

I wanted to recognize some individuals who have come forward to help us replace our dilapidated picnic tables. Stacy Campbell is donating an adorable octagon shaped table, Justin Choate & TTA Construction are going to provide us with two new tables, and Paul Heimburger of Bixby is donating a picnic table. Thank you all for helping our school. I will get some pictures up when we get the tables.

We received a special delivery this morning from St. Rita Catholic School in Dallas, Texas. Jodi Sheffield and her husband delivered several boxes of toys and supplies for our teachers & students. She also had a check for $5,000 for us to give to Dr. Swearingen to aid in the rebuilding of our school. She gave me Walmart & Sam's gift cards to purchase supplies specifically for the teachers. And maybe best of all, her 3rd and 4th grade students sent a stack of home-made cards that each had prepared for us. A few of us shed some happy tears as we looked at them. They were simply amazing! We cannot thank you enough.

Working hard (as usual) School Nurse Judy Treadwell and her father Johnnie Capps were hanging sheet rock in the pre-k building today. You won't find a harder working duo than this father/daughter team. We appreciate everything you are doing for our school. Your hard work is not unrecognized.

NOTICE TO PARENTS OF WF STUDENTS: The first day of school will be Tuesday, September 3rd. You may enroll your child August 21st-23rd, from 10:00 a.m.- 5:00 p.m. This is also the designated time to meet your child's teachers. Due to our late start and the fact that football and softball will already be in progress, we are unable to have an open house event in the evening. Also, I strongly urge parents to not purchase school supplies for your child or children. We are expecting many supply donations over the next few weeks. Students in K-3rd will be receiving a backpack. I also have a limited number of new backpacks that were donated. We should have plenty of supplies to begin the year. I am so excited to see the kids again! This flood may have knocked us down, but we are coming back stronger than before. Just wait and see.

These are the tables under the pavilion on our playground; one is in front of the cafeteria. Is there anyone out there who might build some new picnic tables for our children? Does anyone have a gently used table that is not being used? We gladly accept donations! (Obviously) Send me an email at lward@webbersfalls.k12.ok.us if you want to help us out.
